12th ranked Rainbow Wahine win regular season WAC title

12th Ranked University of Hawaii Softball team captured its 4th Western Athletic Confernce regular-season title today, completing a three game sweep of Utah State in a Sunday double header. UH took game one, 18-0 and finished the Aggies off with a 10-3 win in the afternoon. UH will now travel to Las Cruces, New Mexcio for the WAC Tournament. As the number one seed, they’ll open play on Thursday against Wednesday’s San Jose State/Nevada winner. Lady Bows game time is set for 7:30am HST.

* Recap of the Rainbow Baseball team’s three game sweep of NMSU, giving UH sole posession of first place in the WAC standings.

* Waipahu’s Jerome Williams won his 2nd straight start. J-Will worked 6.2 IP, 2ER,  8H, BB, K in La’s 4-3 win over Toronto. Since Williams’ season opening loss @ NYY he is 3-0 with a 3.38 ERA in 4 starts.

* Maui’s Shane Victorino extended his hitting streak to seven games in the Phillies 9-3 win over the Nationals in D.C.

* Former Warrior and Kamehameha graduate Vaughn Meatoga was released by the Washington Redskins. Kauai native was signed as an un-drafted free-agent last week Saturday.

* Final day of the Quiksilver Waikiki Paddle Festival. In one of the feature events, Oahu’s own Scott Gamble edged out World Champion Jamie Mitchell in the 10-mile Hawaii Kai downwind distance paddle race.
