76 Premium Profile: Stephen Ventimilia

Just 11 months removed from his high school graduation, stress free Stephen Ventimilia’s transition to D1 baseball has been seemingly seemless.

He’s been batting .324 with a team-leading on base clip of .465 to go with 26 runs and nine stolen bases.

Now Steve’s comfort level is somewhat surprising to some, called upon to fill the void at second base left behind arguably one of the greatest baseball talents to ever come out of the 808: All-American and Cardinals first round draft choice Kolten Wong.

Ventimilia says he took what others would view as pressure and turned it into motivation.

Now, unlike his predecessor at second, who often wore his emotions on his sleeve, the California native is tough to read.

In other words, he’s consistent. Perhaps there’s just no better way to describe Steve’s game, and entering a program that has won back-to-back WAC titles.

Ventimilia’s season goals are to keep consistency for the Rainbows while creating a personal habit of augmentation.

Up next for Ventimilia and the ‘bows, a four-game non-conference series against Saint Mary’s, beginning Friday.
