A brushfire on Kauai has destroyed at least three homes near Poipu.
The fire broke out around 2 p.m. Wednesday afternoon near Ala Kinoiki and has spread to a residential area.
Residents in Weliweli Tract have been evacuated as fire crews work to control the blaze.
Police have closed Kapili and Poipu roads.
"Spread across several aces of open field, three to four acres before it touched the back of those houses, but the wind was driving it so fast it was really difficult to get it under control," says Poipu resident Rick Bundschuh.
There are no evacuations at the Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort and Poipu Shopping Village.
There are no injuries reported.
