A bill that would charge a flat rate for cab rides from Honolulu International Airport to Waikiki passed first reading on Wednesday before the City Council.
Council Chair Ernie Martin introduced the bill on behalf of the Hawaii Hotel Association.
Taxi companies have some concerns about the bill.
They say charging a flat rate for someone to be dropped off at the beginning of Waikiki as opposed to the end of Waikiki is not fair.
