Four of Hawaii’s legendary water men and women were honored on Sunday in Waikiki.
New inductees to the Hawaii Waterman Hall of Fame arrived to the ceremony in true waterman style by sailing in on a canoe.
They include environmentalist and surfer Peter Cole and master navigator and voyager Nainoa Thompson.
Two other inductees, Ethel Kukea and Aileen Soule were honored posthumously.
"Hawaii has the best ocean people in the world and to be just be around them the Napoleon family, the Froiseths, the Aikaus, the Keaulanas, the..all of them it’s an absolute honor, it’s an absolute privilege just kinda speechless today," Thompson said.
This is the second induction of ceremony since the creation of the Hawaii Waterman Hall of Fame in 2010.
