Erosion causes Maui County officials to close Baldwin Beach Park

On Tuesday, county officials went to check on two trees that were at risk of falling on beachgoers.

The condition of the trees prompted officials to close the Baldwin Beach Park on Wednesday to cut the two trees down.

When they returned to the beach park, they found that half the restroom at the park had fallen off its foundation due to erosion.

The beach park remained closed Thursday.

Officials hope to have the bathroom fixed soon so that they can open the beach park by this weekend.
