Middle School students on Kauai warn drivers to slow down

More than 60 students and teachers from Chiefess Kamakahelei Middle School are expected to join a traffic safety rally in front of the school today from 7:15 a.m. to 8:15 a.m.

The event is part of the Farmers Insurance Hawaii Hot Spots traffic safety program.

The school community will be joined by Kauai Police Department officers and Farmers Insurance employees.

The speed limit in front of the school zones on Kauai is 15 miles per hour, and drivers must stop for buses loading and unloading students.  The fine for speeding in a school zone is $297.
