When Damien Memorial School celebrates its 50th anniversary next year, it will usher in a new era of education.
The all-boys school announced to parents and students Friday that it will begin accepting girls, starting in the fall of 2012.
Initially, females will be accepted in grades 6 through 9.
Damien Memorial School was founded in 1962, as a private Catholic school for young men grades 6-12.
