It’s the end of the era in Waimalu with a long-time Chinese restaurant changing hands.
After 49 years in business, the Yim family is selling Waimalu Chop Suey.
Long time customers gathered to enjoy their favorite dishes, one being the giant crispy gau gee.
"We came here the day it first opened and we’ve been eating here for the past what 40, 50 years," said Stanley Patino of Mililani. "I’m just sad to see this place close so I had to show up here today to make sure I got my last one day gau gee."
"It’s a little bittersweet because we’ve been here 49 years and we see a lot of customers here that we’re gonna miss. I don’t know really what to say I want to tell them thank you," said owner Randy Yim.
The Yim’s say they are selling to spend more time with family.
A new owner will take over Saturday.
