Thousands attend annual pet walk

Pets and their owners came out to Magic Island this morning.

The Pet Walk welcomed pets of all sorts, some decided to dress for the occasion!

It’s the only day pets are allowed to walk and play at Ala Moana Beach Park and Magic Island without a permit.

“It went really well, this is the biggest, bestest pet walk we’ve ever had. This is our 21st year to have pet walk and we’ve raised $220,000 that’s $55,000 more than last year,” said Pamela Burns, Hawaiian Humane Society.

Owners could enter their pets in a costume contest and participate in other activities.

Proceeds from today’s event will help the Hawaiian Humane Society cover its operating expenses and animal care.
