An Italian appeals court has thrown out Amanda Knox’s murder conviction and ordered the young American free after nearly four years in prison for the death of her British roommate.
Knox collapsed in tears after the verdict was read out Monday.
Knox will be able to return to the United States from Italy after four years behind bars.
The appeals court also threw out co-defendant Raffaele Sollecito’s murder conviction.
Both were sentenced two years ago for the murder of Meredith Kircher, who shared an apartment with Knox.
