A man who died at the Nuuanu Reservoir has been identified as 22-year-old Brandon Yabes of Kapolei.
Emergency crews were called to the reservoir just after 11:30 a.m. Sunday morning.
According to officials, the victim climbed a tower and jumped into the water.
When he did not come to the surface, friends called 911.
The Board of Water Supply says the reservoir is in a restricted area, adding that the gate to the tower is locked.
They say the reservoir has not been used for Honolulu’s water supply since 1919.
