Oahu under a flood advisory until Noon

The National Weather Service in Honolulu has issued a flood advisory for the island of Oahu until noon Tuesday.

At 1030 am, rain gages at Palisades showed heavy rain falling at 2 inches per hour…the area of heavy rain was moving toward the west at 10 mph.

Other locations in the advisory include but are not limited to Honolulu…Ewa Beach…Kapolei…and Waiawa.

The National Weather Service warns people to stay away from streams…drainage ditches and low lying areas prone to flooding.

Rainfall and runoff will also cause hazardous driving conditions due to ponding, reduced visibility and poor braking action.

In addition, the weather service has issued a flash flood watch for the Big Island through Tuesday afternoon.

Forecasters say a moist and unstable atmosphere will trigger thunderstorms and locally heavy rainfall capable of producing flash flooding.
