APEC to restrict parking at parks near Waikiki

HONOLULU (AP) – Honolulu police say parking will be restricted at many parks around Waikiki this month as leaders gather for the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation conference.

Some parking lots have already been blocked off, like all those on Monsarrat Avenue next to Kapiolani Regional Park which were closed earlier this week. The public won’t be able to park in those lots until Nov. 14.

Other restrictions start this Sunday and Monday and last for a week.

No civilian vehicles will be allowed inside Ala Moana Regional Park beginning at 10 p.m. this Sunday until 10 p.m. on Nov. 14.

Only emergency vehicles will be allowed to enter. Pedestrians may walk to the park and use the beach. Sections of the Ala Wai Community Center will also be closed from Monday through Nov. 14.
