Hundreds of Hawaiian Telcom workers are about to wrap up their two-day strike.
Striking workers walked the picket line in front of the Hawaiian Telcom building on Bishop Street.
Union officials say they are advising workers to return to their jobs after 8:01 p.m. Friday if they are scheduled to work.
"We were kinda forced into this situation. The company really doesn’t want to bargain. They only surface bargained with us, we’d like to get back to the table and really get down to the business," said Local 1357 member Lisa Parran.
Unite Local 5 union members joined the picket line Friday afternoon in a show of support.
In a release, Hawaiian Telcom issued the following statement: "Employees will be allowed to return to work and regular duties. The Company made a conscious decision that returning to normal operations as of this evening is in the best interest of our community and our customers at a time of unprecedented importance for our State on the global stage, as the host location for the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation events."
