First Lady kicks off Hawaii trip at MA’O Organic Farms

First Lady Michelle Obama kicked off her trip to Hawaii with a visit to MA’O Organic Farms in Waianae.

The 24.5 acre certified organic farm grows 35 to 45 different varieties of produce which is sold to many restaurants, grocery stores and farmers markets.

The farm is run primarily by area youth who participate in the Youth Leadership Training internship.

These students will guide Mrs. Obama on a tour of the farm and then sit down with her for a conversation about youth leadership, engagement, community responsibility, and access to healthy and affordable food.

Joining Mrs. Obama will be Ed Kenney, Chef of Town restaurant in Kaimuki.
