HONOLULU (AP) – Hawaiian Telcom Holdco, Inc. is reporting net income of $7.4 million for the three months through September.
The company said in a news release Monday its revenue fell 4 percent compared to the third quarter last year as it lost more telephone line customers.
But the utility’s operating expenses also declined – by 8 percent as the company paid less for goods, outsourced contracts, and paid less in salaries, wages and benefits.
Hawaiian Telcom lost 5.6 percent of its telephone line business, a more modest loss than 6.6 percent in the third quarter of 2010.
CEO Eric Yeaman says Hawaiian Telcom is pleased with the early results of its TV service on Oahu. He says the company will continue to expand the availability and capabilities of the service.
