East Oahu tree picked to be centerpiece in Honolulu City Lights display

There’s one less tree in east Oahu.
City workers gathered on Kaeleku Street in Kalama Valley to harvest a 65-foot pine which will be the centerpiece of the Honolulu City Lights display.
The homeowner says her tree was selected for the honor after her realtor posted a photo of it online.

"So its kinda mixed emotions, but mostly happy that its going out with a bang, so I’m excited about that," said homeowner Joyce-Anna Aguirre.

The tree will be up on the Honolulu Hale front lawn on Thursday morning and will be decorated in time for the Honolulu City Lights opening night on Saturday December 3.
