A Honolulu police major arrested on suspicion of distributing crystal meth was been placed on leave without pay after his arrest Monday.
According to a federal affidavit, Major Carlton Nishimura was arrested after an FBI agent carried out a search warrant at his Waianae home.
Authorities found a brown paper bag in the family room. Inside that bag was five clear baggies containing more than 230 grams of a substance that tested positive for meth, and according to the affidavit, authorities found digital scales.
Major Carlton Nishimura also faces federal charges of extortion, tampering with a witness and making false statements.
He is accused of taking payments for giving illegal game room operators tips before raids.
