City’s Christmas tree put up in front of Honolulu Hale

The city’s Christmas tree was hoisted into place fronting Honolulu Hale this morning.

The 65 foot pine tree will be the centerpiece of the Honolulu city lights display.

Over the next few days city workers will be decorating the christmas tree, in anticipation of the return of Shaka Santa and Tutu Mele.

The city is also selling two christmas tree ornaments as part of its "holo holo series."

Opening night for the 2011 Honolulu city lights is Saturday, December 3rd.

The tree lighting ceremony starts at six o’clock that evening.
