Ongoing search for tourist missing off Oahu beach

KAHUKU, Hawaii (AP) – The search continues for a tourist from Colorado who is believed to have gone missing after surfing off Oahu’s North Shore.

Fifty-one-year-old Robert Rumburg is from the Denver suburb of Arvada.

The Coast Guard and Honolulu firefighters began searching for him Wednesday night after he was reported missing near Sunset Beach. The Coast Guard says he was scheduled to fly to Colorado that night. Friends reported him missing after finding his wallet, keys and rental car still at their home.

A surf board he borrowed washed up on shore Wednesday night. Fire Capt. Terry Seelig says Friday’s plan involves searching with a helicopter, jet ski, boat and divers.
