Volunteers to clean Waianae streams, roadsides

WAIANAE, Hawaii (AP) – Volunteers will be cleaning a West Oahu stream and roadside.

On Saturday, they’ll be removing debris that could clog streams and contribute to flooding problems along the Waianae Coast.

The Waianae area experienced flooding in December and January that was partly caused by debris and trash illegally dumped in the stream.

The City and County of Honolulu, along with lawmakers, are coordinating the effort.
