Honolulu police are still investigating whether speed, alcohol, or drugs played a factor in Saturday’s fatal wrong-way crash.
40-year-old Lance Miyashiro was driving home from work around 2:20 a.m. when his truck collided with a BMW that was heading the wrong-way on the H2 Freeway, near Ka Uka Boulevard.
Miyashiro’s family said in a statement: "We first would like to send our heartfelt appreciation for all of the comforting words shared by family and friends. It is an understatement to say that Lance will be deeply missed. There is no way of replacing the hole that is left in our hearts for a son, brother and friend. Seeing how many lives Lance has touched is such a comfort in this difficult time. Though the days have been shrouded in sadness, the night is a bit brighter thanks to a star returning to its place in the heavens."
