Federal agent pleads not guilty to murder charge

Federal agent Christopher Deedy has been served with papers to start civil proceedings against him.

It comes on the day when he appeared in front of a judge pleading not guilty to a murder charge at his arraignment and plea.

Deedy is accused of shooting and killing 23-year-old Kollin Elderts at a Waikiki McDonalds on November 5th.

Deedy was here on State Department business, providing security for delegates at the APEC conference. He has been placed on administrative leave while the investigation continues.

The 27-year-old federal agent is free on $250,000 bail.

Deedy’s initial criminal trial week has been set for December 23rd.

Attorney Michael Green represents the Elderts family and said they will sue Deedy and the federal government since Deedy was believed to be on official business here in Hawaii.
