Former Chaminade assistant men’s basketball coach Mike Mathey has apologized for texting a racial slur.
Mathey said in a written statement to the team, "I made a big, big mistake, but I am taking responsibility for my actions. I’m sorry from the bottom of my heart. Maybe one day you can find it in your heart to forgive me."
Chaminade says Mathey, who’s 24-years-old, has returned to the mainland.
