Strong winds caused some power outages across Oahu Sunday.
Mother Nature snapped this pole like a toothpick.
"The middle section of the pole fell with the 3 transformers."
The pole went down around noon in on Kawaihao Street between Ward Avenue and Cummins Street.
"I’m sure some of the high rises around here cause the wind to swirl in this area causing a little more higher gusts that would topple the pole that way," said John Bowers, acting battalion chief for the Honolulu Fire Department.
"Suddenly all the lights turn off," said Takashi Hori of Aloha Dog.
Aloha Dog was among the Kakaako companies that lost power and business.
"We call all customers to pick up their dogs," said Hori.
The Vibe Asylum recording and rehearsal studios was also forced to close.
"We had 8 bands coming in, so it looks like that’s not going to happen. We’re making phone calls right now to let everyone know not to bother to come down," said Tracy Medeiros of Vibe Asylum.
Hawaiian Electric Company says there actually were outages all across Oahu including Alewa Heights, Nuuanu, and Ewa.
Also for Oahu the Health Department says stay out of Waiolani stream in Nuuanu because of a wastewater spill.
