Pope Benedict XVI named 22 new cardinals Friday.
They include prelates from New York, Hong Kong, Berlin and Prague and some key Vatican offices.
The group will be elevated in a formal ceremony Feb. 18.
18 of them are under the age of eighty, which makes them eligible to enter into a secret conclave to elect a new pope from among their own ranks after Pope Benedict XVI dies.
