Students and parents in the Salt Lake-Moanalua area are on high alert following reports of a suspicious van in their neighborhood.
Honolulu police are investigating three separate incidents.
A memo was sent home with students from Moanalua Middle School about a suspicious older model blue Dodge van with a blue tarp driven by a man in their neighborhood.
“One of my friends said that one of them talked to them while he was waiting at the bus shelter,” said Shawn Quiming, Moanalua Middle School Student.
Police say the man exposed himself to a 10 year-old girl in Salt Lake.
They also say a male driver approached a 10-year-old boy and 14-year-old girl near the Navy Housing.
“That’s in the Aliamanu areas so I don’t know we’re just in this area so that’s going to really scare me I have to make sure I lock the doors,” said Madelyn Quiming, parent.
Moanalua and Aliamanu Middle and Aliamanu Elementary Schools have sent letters to parents informing them to be careful.
“I’m worried about the kids here definitely but also we’re always try to inform each other and network with each other that we are all safe all the students are safe,” said Lisa Nagamine, Moanalua Middle School principal.
Residents who live in Radford and Halsey Terraces off Peltier Avenue and near Caitlin Park are taking precautions.
“My daughter kind of told me about one of her friends at school they say that they try to talk to her but she ran away and that was it and now I’m taking my kids to school myself I drop them off pick them up whatever the case is,” said Alex Quintanilla, parent.
“For us we’re just kind of watching but for us when we told them and we went online you know what it could be any car so just be aware because it’s not the first time we heard about things,” said Nagamine.
Anyone who spots suspicious activity is asked to call police.
