A man who was arrested at Honolulu Airport appeared in court this morning where a judge ordered him to pay a fine for assaulting a flight attendant.
Sohei Yamanouchi was arrested on Monday after arriving on a flight from Tokyo to attend his son’s wedding in Hawaii. According to an affidavit, Yamanouchi complained to a female flight attendant that an airline media player was not working and then slapped her on her shoulder.
In court, Yamanouchi pleaded guilty to assault but said he did not hit her. He was ordered to pay a $2,500 fine. Yamanouchi faced up to six months in prison and a $10,000 fine.
