The Honolulu Zoo was placed on a list of the worst zoos for elephants.
A group called In Defense of Animals (IDA) compiles a top ten list of zoos it claims are unsuitable for elephants.
The Honolulu Zoo came in at number ten on the list, despite recently completing a $12 million elephant exhibit expansion.
The IDA says the exhibit provides less than an acre of space for the zoo’s two elephants.
The San Diego Zoo Safari Park in California and the San Antonio Zoo in Texas were also placed on the list.
