USGS holds centennial open house on Volcano

The U.S. Geological Survey’s Hawaiian Volcano Observatory will hold a Centennial Open House marking the 100th anniversary of the volcano, earthquake monitoring hazard assessment program on the Big Island.

The open house will take place Saturday, January 21 at the USGS Hawaiian Volcano Observatory (Jaggar Museum parking lot) 1 Crater Rim Drive in Hawai’i Volcanoes National Park. A ceremony will begin at 8:30 a.m., and the open house will continue until 4 p.m.
