Oahu’s rubbish convenience centers and transfer stations are packed because of Wednesday’s shutdown of Waimanalo Gulch.
The landfill was closed for much of the day after two high-voltage power lines came down.
The poles have been removed and the landfill is now open.
But there’s a backlog of trash to take to the landfill so the city is limiting the waste that residents can dump at the transfer stations.
Only recyclables, appliances, green waste, batteries and tires will be accepted until Friday.
Adding to trash woes, the H-power plant is down for maintenance until January 25th.
