The evidence against a Big Island man accused of killing his niece was laid out during a preliminary hearing this afternoon.
Ezekiel Wakinekona appeared in court in Waimea.
His 3-year-old niece Marley Makanani died after being found in a bathtub Friday night.
She also had injuries doctors say were consistent with child abuse.
Wakinekona’s wife testified in court, saying he was responsible for disciplining the girl, and that he was the one giving her a bath.
The judge said there’s enough evidence to Wakinekona for trial.
His bail was increased from $60,000 to $500,000.
