Body discovered in stolen SUV

Kauai police discovered a dead body in a stolen SUV Thursday afternoon.
According to Kauai police, the SUV was reported stolen around 2 a.m. Thursday morning.  Police say a 82-year-old man reported that a male subject broke into his Hanalei home and allegedly held him at gunpoint and took off with an undisclosed amount of cash and his Suzuki SUV.
The victim did not report any injuries.
Police later located the stolen SUV in Princeville and discovered the body of who they believe to be the suspect in the vehicle.
"This case is currently under investigation, and as such we are unable to release additional details at this time," says Kaua’i Police Chief Darryl Perry. "However, at this point, there is no reason to believe, nor is there any evidence to support, the possibility of a homicide; I want to reassure the residents of Princeville and the general public that you and your ‘ohana are safe."
The decedent’s identity is being withheld pending a positive identification and notification of next of kin.
An autopsy has been scheduled.
