Abercrombie said the speeches by Senate President Shan Tsutsui and House Speaker Calvin Say provide a template for his own remarks. Both Tsutsui and Say focused on maintaining economic recovery through job creation, particularly through repair and maintenance of state facilities, with an expedited permitting and procurement process to get people back to work quickly.
Say also said there would be no new taxes for state government or general fund appropriations to expand state programs.
Tsutsui’s speech focused in part on collaborating with the Abercrombie administration on three main objectives: growing a sustainable economy, investing in people and transforming
government.
