A Big Island woman is in critical condition after a head-on vehicle collision 9 a.m. Thursday.
A a woman in her 30s collided with a dump truck on Highway 11 near Volcano Road.
The "Jaws of Life" were used to remove the trapped woman in her car, while fire crews battled a blaze that had fully engulfed the truck.
Live electrical wires on the ground delayed the firefight.
The collision also knocked off an external diesel tank located on the truck and sent fuel hundreds of feet onto the roadway.
HAZMAT was called to clean up the fuel and oil on the road.
