A Makawao man is dead following a single-car crash in Kula.
According to Maui Police, 20-year-old Cody Endo was travelling north on Kekaulike Highway near the intersection of Crater Road just before 12:30 a.m., when he lost control of the truck he was driving and struck a guardrail.
Police say the truck slid across the intersection and into an embankment, launching it into the air and causing it to overturn.
Police say Endo was not wearing his seat belt and was partially ejected from the vehicle. Endo was taken to Maui Memorial Medical Center where he was later pronounced dead.
Police say speed and alcohol may have played a role in the crash, but their involvement remains under investigation.
