Police say the 50 year-old man was arrested around 1:00 p.m. Tuesday off Liliuoklani Avenue in Waikiki.
The New York/New Jersey Fugitive Task Force helped locate the man.
Police say the suspect is wanted for 9 felonies and 8 misdemeanors for sex offenses including rape.
Officials say the suspect fled to Canada and then to China when he became aware that he was being investigated.
Through the investigation, authorities found out that he was receiving benefits in Hawaii.
The suspect was arrested for an extradition warrant.
