Windward legislators hosting town hall meeting

HONOLULU (AP) – Windward residents can watch a half-hour film about watersheds featuring Hawaii-born actor Jason Scott Lee Wednesday night.

State Sen. Pohai Ryan, Rep. Chris Lee and City Councilman Ikaika Anderson are hosting a two-hour town hall at the National Guard Training Center at Bellows. The meeting gives community members an opportunity to learn about issues affecting them as well as express any concerns they may have.

The meeting begins at 5:30 p.m. with refreshments, followed by a screening of "The Rain Follows the Forest" at 6 p.m. The film, produced by the state Department of Land and Natural Resources, addresses the importance of protecting Hawaii’s watersheds.

Representatives from the Department of Hawaiian Home Lands and the Office of Hawaiian Affairs will also provide information.
