The University of Hawaii at Hilo gymnasium sustained $10,000 in damage from a fire Sunday night.
It happened around 7 p.m.
Firefighters responded to the athletic complex to find light smoke coming from the gymnasium.
Firefighters searched surrounding buildings and found a smoldering fire in an industrial gas dryer located in a physical education building.
The fire was extinguished with a dry chemical extinguisher and booster hose.
Officials say there was only minor smoke damage.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
