The attorney for a man accused of shooting at another man on the H-1 Freeway says his client acted in self defense.
Douglas Freeman, 65, is accused of shooting another man’s car Friday night in an apparent case of road rage.
The victim says Freeman cut him off before the shooting.
Freeman’s attorney says his client was trying to protect himself.
“He’s driving home from work late at night and he’s got a bad back and he gets into a confrontation with a 23 year old male on the freeway who is also driving a vehicle,” said Marcus Sierra, attorney. “There is a right to self defense in certain situations if you reasonably believe it’s necessary to protect yourself against force from another person,” said Sierra.
The victim was not injured and managed to take down freeman’s license plate number.
Freeman was charged with terroristic threatening, reckless endangerment, and a firearms offense.
