Man guilty of random stabbing in Chinatown

A man found guilty of a random stabbing attack in Chinatown in February of 2010 will spend 10 years in prison.

A jury found Marsian Aliwis guilty of two counts of assault.

Prosecutors made their case with the help of surveillance video of the attack.

"It is clear that both victims were just as they testified simply standing on the sidewalk minding their own business when they were attacked by a complete stranger,” said deputy prosecutor Scott Bell.

One victim was stabbed in the leg, the other in the shoulder.

The defense had asked for probation for Aliwis, saying he needed to provide for his family in Guam.
