Honolulu dog owners buck the trend when it comes to the most popular dog breeds.
According to the American Kennel club, the chihuahua was the most popular dog in Honolulu last year.
Nationally, the labrador retriever remained the top breed, while falling to second place on Honolulu’s list.
The shetland sheepdog took third place, followed by the german shepherd in fourth, and a tie for fifth place between the pomeranian and the yorkshire terrier, which was new to this year’s list having jumped eight spots from 2010.
Dropping off the list was the shiba inu, which fell 12 places to number 15.
