Wet weather causing sewage overflows in southeast Oahu

A mixture of storm water and raw wastewater is flowing into two streams in the southeast part of Oahu due to a wet weather overflow.

One overflow is coming from 1542 Pukele Avenue in Palolo, releasing storm and wastewaters into Palolo Stream, eventually leading into the Ala Wai Canal.

The other overflow is coming from 5307 Kalanianaole Highway, spilling into Wailupe Stream, which empties into Maunalua Bay.

State crews are working on testing the waters. Oahu is currently under a brown water advisory.

Both spills are on-going.
