The University of Hawaii at Manoa’s 2012 Junior Engineering Expo will hold a popsicle stick bridge contest to test the physical limits of young ingenuity.
Teams of middle school students will construct bridges across a two foot gap, aiming to build the strongest bridge. The material is limited to sticks and glue.
The competition sponsored by The Hawaii Section of the American Society of Civil Engineers will take place on March 8 from 9:30 a.m to 12:00 p.m.at Holmes Hall at the University of Hawaii at Manoa.
The contest winners last year built a bridge holding over 400 pounds.
