Hawaii democrats gather to vote on presidential preference poll

Hawaii democrats gathered Wednesday night to vote in a presidential preference poll.

Four years ago 38,000 people showed up to help decide between then senators Hilary Clinton and Barack Obama.

With now President Obama running as the incumbent, there is no contest within the party.

"Well this is a very exciting night. This is really the launch of our democratic efforts to reelect Barack Obama and also make sure that we deliver a democratic congressional delegation," said Lieutenant Governor Brian Schatz.

The more competitive Hawaii State republican presidential caucuses will be held next Tuesday.

New Gingrich, Mitt Romney, Rick Santorum and Ron Paul are on the ballot.
