Synopsis: In the past, different types of rainbows were known by Hawaiians, and they were signs and omens that were interpreted by the priests, the prophets and the commoner alike. The interpretation depended on the individual observer. Traditional Hawaiian knowledge is gradually disappearing and needs to be perceived as a way to perpetuate the Hawaiian culture and worldview during this overbearing technological time that we live in today.
