Suspect wanted in double kidnapping attempt

Honolulu police are asking for the public’s help in locating a man who tried to kidnap two girls.

The most recent incident happened Tuesday, April 3 in McCully around 7 a.m.

Police say a girl was walking on Citron Street when she was approached by a man on a moped.

The man got off, followed her behind a building and pushed her down.

Police say he tried to make the girl swallow a pill.

She screamed, spit out the pill and the suspect took off on his moped.

The other incident happened last December near Makiki Cemetery.

Police say the same man on a moped grabbed a girl and held her against the cemetery wall.

Police say both victims, who are under 15, know each other.

“When she got to school she coincidentally told this first victim and they found out it was the same male and the reports were initiated,” said Sgt. Kim Buffett.  “What might stand out and if somebody recognizes this person his teeth are stained from beetle nut juice.”

The suspect is believed to be between 5’4” to 5’8” and he’s in his 50′s.

He has grey wavy hair and brown eyes.

Police say he drives a red and white older model moped that has scratches.
