Off the news: Maui STR conversion bill still up in the air

A year after Maui Mayor Richard Bissen proposed Bill 9, requiring the conversion of 6,100 short-term vacation rentals to long-term housing because they are sited in areas zoned for residential apartments, and a day after its own self-imposed deadline, the Maui County Council still could not bring itself to vote on the proposal.
