Letter: Symbol of protection now linked with terror

A recent letter made me think of the wretched irony of masks (“Stop masked ICE agents from acting like thugs,” Star-Advertiser, June 27). For years we wore them religiously to keep from dying of COVID. We wore them because we cared about each other — we wanted to protect each other from sickness and death.
